President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has today established dedicated ‘Government Service Centres’ across the atolls, operating under the Ministry of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology.
The centres were established pursuant to the powers vested in the President under Article 116(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives. The President’s Office officially announced the decision through Directive No. 2026/16.
Under this decision, Government Service Centres have been set up in 18 administrative atolls across the country:
The primary objective of establishing these service hubs is to provide services offered by national government entities through integrated service centres at the administrative constituency level, in accordance with Section 65(b)(1) of the Decentralisation Act (Act No. 7/2010).
The directive issued by the President’s Office also specifies the official English designations for each centre, alongside the institutional reference codes to be used on official correspondence addressed to these entities.
