To celebrate Farmers’ Day and World Food Day, the N. Landhoo Council teamed up with local island institutions to host two special community events.
On October 15, the island launched a tree-planting drive to help boost local food security. Residents gathered to plant fruit-bearing trees in public areas across Landhoo, focusing mainly on breadfruit, sea almond (midhili), and mango trees.
The celebrations continued the following day, October 16, with a food exhibition. Many local residents took part, bringing homemade and value-added food items to showcase. Judges scored the entries in a friendly competition, awarding prizes for first, second, and third place.
Both events were attended by State Minister Ismail Azmee Adhnan as the guest of honour.
