Strengthening family ties and preserving domestic harmony form the bedrock of a healthy and cohesive society, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs stressed in Friday's nationwide sermon delivered on 30 October 2026.
The sermon, titled "The Importance of Strengthening Family Ties", reminded worshippers that community stability depends directly on the stability of individual households. When familial structures weaken or dissolve, the broader fabric of society inevitably faces moral decline and social fragmentation.
Parents and guardians were urged to prioritize the religious and moral upbringing (tarbiyah) of their children from an early age. The khutbah highlighted that nurturing children upon Islamic principles, good character, and sound manners is a collective duty, requiring parents to actively model righteous conduct within the home rather than relying solely on formal schooling.
The khutbah also placed strong emphasis on upholding kinship bonds, referencing Prophetic traditions that associate maintaining family ties with increased blessings, sustenance, and longevity. Worshippers were reminded that true reconciliation and kinship require extending goodwill and compassion even toward relatives who may have severed ties.
The sermon concluded with prayers for the well-being and unity of families across the nation, asking for divine guidance, protection from discord, and enduring peace within communities.
