The Maldivian government envisions the creative economy accounting for 15 percent of the national economy by the year 2030, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed announced during his address at Business Expo 2026.

Emphasising the vital role of local talent and enterprise, Minister Saeed stated that productive citizens will undeniably take the lead in driving economic progress across the Maldives. He underscored that sustainable national growth hinges directly on empowering people with innovative, constructive ideas and supporting homegrown enterprise.

According to the Minister, this vision formulated by the President is specifically designed to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), newcomers seeking entry into the business sphere, and young innovators aiming to translate creative concepts into commercially viable ventures.

Minister Saeed noted that clear directives and guidance have been provided to realize this target by 2030, positioning creative industries as a cornerstone of the country's economic diversification agenda.
