The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially opened a new fish shop in Fuvahmulah City tonight. This marks the company's seventh outlet across the country and is part of its ongoing efforts to expand business and services.
This is the second MIFCO outlet established outside the Greater Malé area, following the opening of a shop in Hithadhoo, Addu City, in late May this year. MIFCO also operates two shops in Malé and three in Hulhumalé.
The new outlet is located at the Fuvahmulah harbour area, adjacent to the Fuvahmulah Fish Processing Facility. It was officially inaugurated by MIFCO’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Anas, alongside company officials and local residents.
The shop will allow local residents to purchase all MIFCO products steadily at affordable prices. Operating under the company's seven-day service schedule introduced on 1 August 2026, the Fuvahmulah outlet will remain open every day of the week, including Fridays.
MIFCO highlighted that expanding its retail network aims to boost domestic production and provide high-quality fish products to the public, while supporting government policies to develop the fisheries industry and increase profits for local fishermen.
